SIP Trunking
Replace copper lines and PRI circuits without replacing your phone system.
If your organization owns a phone system that still serves you well, you do not have to discard it to leave old telephone lines behind. Cytranet SIP trunking delivers your lines and phone numbers over a data connection, in place of the copper lines and PRI circuits that carriers are retiring.
What a SIP trunk is
SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol, the standard used to set up voice calls over a data network. A SIP trunk connects your phone system to the telephone network over an internet or private data connection. It does the job that analog lines and PRI circuits used to do, without the copper.
Why organizations are moving now
Traditional telephone lines have become expensive to keep, and carriers across the country are withdrawing them. A phone system that depends on those lines is exposed to price increases and, eventually, to the loss of the service itself. SIP trunking removes that dependency while leaving your handsets, your programming, and your staff habits as they are.
Capacity that matches your business
Old circuits came in fixed sizes. A PRI delivered 23 call paths whether you needed 8 or 23. With SIP trunking, Cytranet sizes the service to the number of calls your organization runs at the same time, and that number can be raised for a busy season without installing anything.
Delivered on a carrier voice network
Cytranet is a licensed telecommunications carrier with voice switching in multiple data centers. We manage the porting of your numbers directly with your current carrier, so there is no gap in service, and our U.S.-based support team is available 24 hours a day.

Questions
Common questions
What is the difference between SIP trunking and hosted VoIP?
With SIP trunking, you keep and manage your own phone system and Cytranet supplies the lines. With hosted VoIP, the phone system itself runs in the cloud and Cytranet operates it for you. We provide both and can help you decide which suits your organization.
Will SIP trunking work with my phone system?
SIP trunking works with IP phone systems that support the SIP standard, and with many older systems through a gateway. Tell us the make and model of your system and we will confirm compatibility.
